CATCH OF THE DAY ... It took three able-bodied fishermen about 45
minutes to haul this giant garoupa out of the waters off the Tanjung
Bidara coast in Malacca on Wednesday evening.
Abdul Rahman Jais, 30, and two of his friends, Mazlan Mansor, 26, and
Herman Mansor, 19, got the surprise of their lives when their
monstrous catch, which measures more than two metres long and tops
200 kilogrammes, finally came out of the water.
The fish was caught in a net that Abdul Rahman had placed one nautical
mile from the shore. When the three checked the net three hours
later, they immediately realised that something very heavy was
entangled in it.
